So, I took a day off work to play with Daz Studio's new release with NVIDIA's Iray (you should have seen my boss's face when I told him why I wanted the day off...) Here are some thoughts about the BETA release. Performance: For context, I'm testing on a single GTX 970 which I consider a fairly moderate card for GPU rendering. Performance with a single card is still very good. For results that are very similar to LuxRender, I'm turning out projects in 20% of the time (compared to render times for a CPU render on an i7-5960X clocked at 4.2 Ghz.) Pulling my hair out as to why something that shouldn't be as transparent as it is, staring at material settings and looking at a very, very white looking transmap..... finally break down and haul the mat into photoshop where what do I find? 234.234.234 used for the white. Maybe in Studio and Poser you can do that and it works, but OMG does LuxRender think you want to stare right through that! Seriously... it looked like I had opacity at 20% instead of 100%. Not cool. Two clicks with a paint bucket, new map, problem solved.... but gah!!

I'm finding all sorts of stuff in my Runtime that's surprising me today.... things that make me go "Oh! I should totally render something with that.... why haven't I yet?" Is it just me or does that happen to everyone else?
